Which came first: Success or The Act of BEING Successful?

It’s one of those “brain-twisters” that every Network Marketer should ask themselves…

Kind of like “Which came first — the chicken or the egg?”

You get my drift?

This seems to be the MAIN thing I see holding people back –

not SEO…

not PPC…

not Social Media… Continue reading Which came first: Success or The Act of BEING Successful?

How I Became an Attraction Marketing "Expert" In Less Than 2 Months

Ever feel like this whole “learning process” of how to become a top-dog MLM goo-roo is taking Waaaay too long?

Well, you’re in luck because Susanna Hess is going to share with us how she became an “attraction marketing expert” within 2 months of hearing about it!

Take it away, Susanna:

Do you ever find it hard to remember certain things, or apply them?

How many different calls, websites, articles, audios or videos have you read, or listened to about the same topic?

And if you’re anything like me, you might even feel a little nervous about performing those activities right after learning them ;)

Maybe it’s making a blog, hosting a meeting, making calls, being the ‘expert’ on a 3 way call, writing an article, hosting a webinar…

If you’ve tapped into how to do it, but aren’t doing it yet, I have an almost guaranteed way to get it to stick. A way to get you moving in the right direction.

Because we all know that without action, all the knowledge in the world won’t matter.

Three-Person Teaching:

“If you knew you were going to teach this material tomorrow, say to a very important group of people, would that affect the way you learn today?”

– Stephen R. Covey

You can learn something, but when you learn it — and then turn around and teach it to someone else — you’ve learned it twice.

Learned it from 2 different angles, you see.

Let me give you an example:

I used to hold hotel meetings for my primary business and I reserved a room for a certain date that was couple of months away.

Then I found out about attraction marketing, and was shocked at what I learned.

I couldn’t imagine holding another hotel meeting the way I had before, but I already had it booked and would have to pay a portion of it if I canceled.

So I decided to keep the reservation and (big gulp) make it an “Attraction Marketing 101 Workshop” instead. Continue reading How I Became an Attraction Marketing “Expert” In Less Than 2 Months

The Lost Chapter of Magnetic Sponsoring

…Not only will you magnetically attract the RIGHT people, but you’ll also repel the WRONG ones!

Don’t worry though, this is a good thing ;)

You all know that Monique and I love Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring course. I mean, it’s changed our entire Network Marketing careers!

We went from cold-calling and pitching “our Uncle Joe” on our business to attracting prospects to call us.

Quite a turn-around, right?

You might be wondering, “OK Derek, how does that happen?” Continue reading The Lost Chapter of Magnetic Sponsoring

What Bruce Springsteen Taught Me About Branding

And yes, Bruce Springsteen has a “brand” — all successful people do…

Especially rock stars!

Why am I talking about Bruce Springsteen today?

Well, I get on these kicks sometimes where I’ll just be jammin’ out to the same musician for days on end.

One week it might be Bob Marley, the next week I might be feeling Willie Nelson, or Louis Armstrong, or Tom Petty — the list goes on and on…

Man, I just love music!

*TIP: If you’re ever feeling down and getting tired of all the $@!&*!! widgets, plugins, apps, codes, tweets, trackbacks, RSS feeds, and all that other baloney you gotta learn on the Internet ;) — just put a good record on and see if your mood isn’t lifted!

Go ahead — try it out next time this happens and think of your old pal Derek, who was good enough to share this tip with you ;)

Bruce Springsteen has been getting me going the last few days — I mean, try listening to “Glory Days,” “Thunder Road,” or “The Rising” and see if you’re not feeling like dancing around the office and making it happen!

And then I got to thinking about the Bruce Springsteen “brand” and analyzing it from a marketing perspective.

Rock star, cultural icon, musician, etc… Continue reading What Bruce Springsteen Taught Me About Branding

Are you sending people to a company replicated site?

If so, you might as well roll your wad of cash up and start smoking it, for all the good it’ll do you!

Listen, I understand why people use replicated sites — they seem convenient, they look “fancy,” and they’re relatively inexpensive…

But replicated sites don’t do anything but confuse your prospect when you send them to one.

And in marketing, confusing your prospect loses you money.

Because they’re not going to buy anything you have.

They’ll look around, click some links and move on.

Why? Continue reading Are you sending people to a company replicated site?

MLM Advice - Be Like Home Depot?

It would be silly if Home Depot only had one product on the shelves and it will kill your business if you do, too.

“Now you’ve just gone too far, Derek! People need to focus on one thing and one thing only — my upline told me so!”

Well good luck with that…

Seriously, imagine walking into Home Depot and they have aisles and aisles of one thing and one thing only — doesn’t matter what — just lots and lots of it.

To help the story along, we’ll say the one thing is a particular brand of phillips head screwdrivers.

Maybe they’re even the best phillips head screwdrivers around, but it’s not gonna do Home Depot any good.

“Why, Derek? — they’ve found a niche.”

Why yes, but there niche is too small! How long do you think they can stay in business only selling screwdrivers?

Not long. Continue reading MLM Advice  —  Be Like Home Depot?

Network Marketers, What's your story?

No, I’m not talking about your “Why,” or your excuses, or what you tell your kids before you tuck them in at night…

I’m talking about your business story. Because it’s important — more important than many realize.

If you’ve been following this blog, then you know that Monique and I preach the art of self–promotion.

People join YOU, not your company.

But if they don’t know who you are or what you’re about — they’ll go find someone who makes it clear who they are and join them, instead.

Don’t believe me about the importance of your story? Continue reading Network Marketers, What’s your story?

Advanced Business Leadership Training

If you haven’t heard me on my weekly training calls, if you haven’t read my blog posts and if you missed my 21 Days Of Leadership…

I’m Monique Alvarez, a third generation Entrepreneur.

I have a rich heritage and I stand on tall shoulders.

My Papa C.R. was a successful businessman who had 10 ideas a minute.  He was like the Clint Eastwood or John Wayne of the business world.

He was rough, he was tough and there was no way he was taking no for an answer.  (Take one look at our website and you’ll see we’ve embraced that theme.)

It’s not surprising that both my parents are entrepreneurs and I was raised right there in the middle of it all.

I left my small town home in Colorado, my family who has lived there for over 100 years, to explore and blaze my own trail.

I carry their lessons with me.  I most definitely carry their spirit. Continue reading Advanced Business Leadership Training

IDEA: Create a Blog Marketing Co-op

I know, I know — Marketing Co-ops are nothing new.

But I’ve been thinking, what with all the Google slaps and the time-consuming nature of blog marketing, article marketing, video marketing, social media, you name it…

Why hasn’t anyone thought of creating a Blog Marketing Co-op?

I mean, I don’t have ALL the details figured out, but this could be a great way to leverage the collective abilities and sheer man-power of your Network Marketing team.

It would go something like this, the team leader(s) would step up and take care of the blog hosting, autoresponder, etc.

They would be the “face” of the blog, so to speak — the moderator, main contributor, the ring leader of the circus…

Mainly because they have already established a following and know the ins and outs.

Then the other team members would be required to write at least one extremely valuable blog post per week. This would help build the blog’s following by keeping people coming back for more, and hopefully, telling their friends.

The contributors would each have to find a niche, focus on it, master it, and write about it.

PPC, Facebook, SEO, video marketing, etc.

The blog would become an authority site!

Furthermore, the niche masters would also be in charge of using their skills to drive traffic.

The co-op would pool their money together to fund this and they would split the proceeds — from the people who join their MLM, funded proposal sales, affiliate sales, etc.

It makes things more complicated, but it also has the potential to accelerate things quite a bit.

This blog post is pretty much a brainstorm, but I’d love to hear what you think! Leave your comments below:
