Is Your MLM Company Any Different Than Corporate America?

If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

They’re going to stone me for saying this, but…

Six months into my MLM business, I realized it was starting to feel a lot like my old JOB in corporate America.

I know, I heard you just gasp — “No, Monique, say it ain’t so!”

But say with me here.

I was a Manager and I got sick of a few things:

  • Having a Boss
  • Dealing whiny co-workers
  • Having absolutely no creative liberty in my work.

Bottom line — I didn’t like being a number and I sure as heck didn’t like the fact that I was becoming a robot.

You see, the only way you’ll ever make it in a job like I had was eventually you sit down, shut up and do it their way.

  • You take the salary they give you.
  • You come early, you stay late.
  • You sing their praises.
  • You attend every staff meeting and you let everyone know just how thankful you are that they keep you around.

Being raised by two entrepreneurs, this whole song and dance just didn’t sit well with me.

Call me a control freak, a dreamer, a non-conformist — but I was done with the life I had as a Manager.

I quite my job with no real plan. Continue reading Is Your MLM Company Any Different Than Corporate America?

Personal Branding Versus Duplication

standoutDuckHave you ever heard, “But that’s not duplicatable!” Well, here’s what I think about that…

…It’s a bunch of B.S.

(Just kidding)

Sort of.

First off, why do I feel like we are not talking about people — ACTUAL HUMAN BEINGS — when Networkers talk about duplication.

People cannot be duplicated!

I already wrote an article on duplication that can be found here: http://drivetheline.com/what-exactly-is-duplication/, but I thought I would address a specific debate that all too frequently comes up.

There seem to be two sides:

  • One side argues that a Network Marketer must personally brand themselves to be someone worth joining.
  • The other side says that personal branding is not “duplicatable.”

Well, I’m going to give you the cold, hard truth. Continue reading Personal Branding Versus Duplication

What Exactly Is Duplication?

miniMeI Shall Call Him… Mini-Me!

Just kidding — it’s not about creating clones or forcing people to do things exactly the way you do — it’s about helping people become leaders.

We can help facilitate this by creating simple systems for people to “grow up in,” but the bottom line is that, in Network Marketing, we need to cultivate leaders and help them be the best leaders they can be.

This means that we can’t expect people to become “mini-me” versions of ourselves.

Anyone Can Succeed in Network Marketing (With the Right System)

heismanWinnerDannyWeurffelLook no further than all the successful Florida Gators quarterbacks who succeeded in a great coaches’ system, only to flop in the NFL

What got me thinking about this is my love for my alma mater’s football team, The University of Arizona Wildcats.

You see, we earned our first bowl game since 1998 last year, but we did it with a senior quarterback who has now graduated.

Our fate this year is now up to a couple of sophomore quarterbacks with little game experience.

My hopes and dreams are relying on our Offensive Coordinator’s “system,” The Air Zona Offense that allowed Willie Tuitama to break several school records as our starting quarterback last year.

What makes me think this is possible? Danny Wuerffel, Kerwin Bell, Rex Grossman, Bob Hewko, Doug Johnson, Eric Kresser, Shane Matthews, Jesse Palmer, John Reaves, and Kay Stephenson.

All of them successful quarterbacks at The University of Florida, using a great offensive system, who went on to the NFL and didn’t live up to expectations.

So what does this have to do with Network Marketing, you may ask?

A lot. Because anybody can succeed in this business if they apply themselves, don’t give up, and effectively use the right system. Continue reading Anyone Can Succeed in Network Marketing (With the Right System)
