MLM Rehab

If you’re new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Have you guys seen that show, Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew?

Well, Monique and I were flippin’ through the channels one night and we stumbled across this guilty pleasure of a show…

Where “celebrities” like Dennis Rodman and Heidi Fleiss go to get themselves “back on the wagon” (or is it “off the wagon”?)

Anyway, I think Monique was inspired by this show to do her own show called…

You guessed it, MLM Rehab! Check it out:

OK, what do you think? Is this a viable business, or should we “stick with our day jobs”? Let us know in the comments below:

The Lost Chapter of Magnetic Sponsoring

…Not only will you magnetically attract the RIGHT people, but you’ll also repel the WRONG ones!

Don’t worry though, this is a good thing ;)

You all know that Monique and I love Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring course. I mean, it’s changed our entire Network Marketing careers!

We went from cold-calling and pitching “our Uncle Joe” on our business to attracting prospects to call us.

Quite a turn-around, right?

You might be wondering, “OK Derek, how does that happen?” Continue reading The Lost Chapter of Magnetic Sponsoring

Are you sending people to a company replicated site?

If so, you might as well roll your wad of cash up and start smoking it, for all the good it’ll do you!

Listen, I understand why people use replicated sites — they seem convenient, they look “fancy,” and they’re relatively inexpensive…

But replicated sites don’t do anything but confuse your prospect when you send them to one.

And in marketing, confusing your prospect loses you money.

Because they’re not going to buy anything you have.

They’ll look around, click some links and move on.

Why? Continue reading Are you sending people to a company replicated site?

MLM Advice - Be Like Home Depot?

It would be silly if Home Depot only had one product on the shelves and it will kill your business if you do, too.

“Now you’ve just gone too far, Derek! People need to focus on one thing and one thing only — my upline told me so!”

Well good luck with that…

Seriously, imagine walking into Home Depot and they have aisles and aisles of one thing and one thing only — doesn’t matter what — just lots and lots of it.

To help the story along, we’ll say the one thing is a particular brand of phillips head screwdrivers.

Maybe they’re even the best phillips head screwdrivers around, but it’s not gonna do Home Depot any good.

“Why, Derek? — they’ve found a niche.”

Why yes, but there niche is too small! How long do you think they can stay in business only selling screwdrivers?

Not long. Continue reading MLM Advice  —  Be Like Home Depot?

The Jenny Craig Business Model: Sell MORE Food To Fat People

Many of you know that Monique used to be a Manager at a Jenny Craig here in Tucson.

Don’t know what Jenny Craig is?

Jenny Craig is a business franchise that helps people lose weight through one-on-one coaching and by putting people on a weight-loss program that includes a meal plan with low-calorie foods that are pre-packaged to contain the perfect serving size.

In other words, they sell more food to fat people.

Please, no letters or angry emails — I have nothing against overweight people and I know that not everyone who goes to Jenny Craig is fat.

But think about it — how genius is this business model?!

Never mind the fact that the food is meant to be low-calorie and just the right serving — I get it.

Still, overweight people are overweight because they buy and consume a lot of food.

So along comes Jenny Craig, who says, “I can help you lose weight — all you have to do is buy my food…”

Jenny Craig doesn’t sell weight loss programs — they sell food!

The weight loss thing is just a way to get their target market in the door.

Don’t you wish you had thought of this ;)

So what does this have to do with Network Marketing? Continue reading The Jenny Craig Business Model: Sell MORE Food To Fat People

The Right Way To Market Your MLM?

Monique and I asked Susanna Hess to share a story with us today and we really think you’ll enjoy it:

Driving The Wrong Way Down a One Way Street…

A foreigner?

I am an American, living in Australia. Now in case you didn’t know, they drive on the opposite side of the road down under.

It took a lot of concentration to drive on the correct side of the road when we first moved here.

The biggest challenges came when making a turn.

As scary as it sounds, there were times, while I was behind the wheel, that I felt panic. Because for a few seconds, I couldn’t remember which side I was supposed to be on!

Now, not only is the vehicle on the opposite side of the road, but so is the steering wheel, which makes sense.

Furthermore, the blinker is on the opposite side of the steering column, as are the windshield wipers.

I can’t count the number of times my husband would turn on the windshield wipers when coming up to a turn. This would cause confusion while he tried to turn them off quickly, and turn the blinker on, while slowing down to make the turn. Continue reading The Right Way To Market Your MLM?

Brand Yourself Through Comments

How to get more traffic and build your brand by doing something as simple as commenting on blogs that your target market flock to.

I’ve noticed that a lot of people participate in the blogosphere by commenting on their favorite blogs and taking part in the discussions.

But I’ve also noticed that most people haven’t fully taken advantage of their participation by using it as an opportunity to build their brand.

Or worse — if they DO push their brand, they push too hard by spamming their links all over the place.

Like always, I look for a happy medium between blatant annoying self-promotion and being a wallflower too afraid to join the fun. Continue reading Brand Yourself Through Your Comments

The Key to Success in MLM is to become Addicted

…To Success!

If you’ve been in Network Marketing long enough to experience some failure, like Monique and I have — you’re going to have to break that cycle of failure before it becomes a habit.

Because, make no mistake about it, we are creatures of habit!

Take a second to think about your daily routine…

Do you have certain things you do every day that you don’t even think about anymore?

I know I sure do!

I wake up, make some coffee, eat some breakfast, and read the paper every single day without fail.

It’s gotten to the point where it’s pretty automatic — especially the coffee making part. Now, I don’t even think about making the coffee, I just do it.

Imagine what would happen if you let failure become a habit!

You would get so used to it that you wouldn’t even know that you were doing it — just like me making my morning cuppa joe.

The same thing happens in Network Marketing.

You’re not going to be able to completely prevent yourself from failing, and that’s not even a worthy goal, anyway.

But what you WILL be able to do is recognize when failing has the chance of becoming a habit and preventing the habit of failing from ingraining itself in your daily routine.

So now, you should be thinking, “How do I break my failure habit?”

And it’s easier than you think! Continue reading The Key to Success in MLM is to become Addicted

Why on Earth would you GIVE your content away?

– Content you COULD sell — to website visitors?

I bring this up because I have had a few interactions with small business owners and professionals who can’t believe I don’t charge people for some of my blog posts.

And when I tell them that they should start giving THEIR stuff for free, too?

Whoa, buddy–

–You would think I just landed from Mars!

But, believe it or not, successful businesses have been doing this for years.

Often, as is the case with my mother-in-law, they did it without even knowing it. Continue reading Why on Earth would you GIVE your content away?

What Would Jesus Do (If he were a Network Marketer)?

With Christmas coming up in a few days, I found myself asking this question.

And why not? I’m not a very religious person (spiritual, but definitely not religious) and I think Jesus led by great example.

If we were all to actually ACT upon what Jesus taught, the world would be a much better place.

So, obviously, there is the above implication in the statement, “What Would Jesus Do (If he were a Network Marketer)?”

The implication that we should follow the golden rule, do unto others, etc.

So if we were to be more “Jesus-like,” we would:

  • Lead by example.
  • Treat people the way you want to be treated.
  • HELP other people.
  • Spread our message and love to others.
  • Be willing to make the sacrifices others would be hesitant to make.
  • Etc…

But that’s not my only point.

I recently read an article that seemed to go against a very profound principle I hold near and dear to my heart: Continue reading What Would Jesus Do (If he were a Network Marketer)?
