Tips on choosing the right domain name

choosingTheRightDomainNameAre you running your Network Marketing business on the "You, Inc." Business Model? Creating a Nerve Center? Then you're going to want to choose the right domain name.

I say this because you are going to want to set people's expectations up from the very beginning.

It could be the difference between them clicking on your link or not!

For insider emails with more helpful info like this, fill out the form below:

If your site is called flyfishing.com, for example, it better be all about fly fishing.

Otherwise, you may get a click, but you're not going to get your visitor to stay at your site.

In light of this, I have compiled some tips on choosing a domain name for you.

Of course, if you are using the "You, Inc." business model, you might want to get a site using your name (www.yourname.com).

But if you are starting a site for a specific niche, these are the things to keep in mind.

Your domain name, or website address, should be:

  • Easy to dictate (avoid homophones: ‘to’ or ‘2,’ ‘mail’ or ‘male’)
  • Easy to spell (avoid silent letters: ‘ie’ and ‘ei;’ avoid long names; and avoid names that can be spelled differently in different regions, like: ‘color’ or ‘colour’)
  • Easy to say (simple words, short words, same language, and easy to pronounce)
  • Easy to recognize (what they can expect to find, promise something they want, and create different websites for unrelated markets)
  • Related to what you do (that should be pretty obvious)
  • Informational (like: review, report, advice, help)

Brainstorm 10 to 20 domain name ideas for your company’s product (remember who your target audience is).

Then go to GoDaddy.com and search these names to see if they are available.

After that, write a short list of the available domain names and choose the very best one.

I like GoDaddy because it’s inexpensive and easy to use.

They are going to try to upsell you on a bunch of things, but just buy the domain name and get your hosting at a hosting site.
